Kirby Ferguson’s "4 Steps to Getting an Idea"
According to the Week 2 lecture, to create an idea using his method, Kirby Ferguson of the Everything is a Remix series utilizes A (adapt) from SCAMPER and adapts James Webb Young's Technique for Producing Ideas into his four-step system.
Step 1: Create Boundaries
The first step is to establish boundaries. As Kirby Ferguson points out, boundaries are extremely important in these steps. First I wrote down my idea in either narrow or broaden the boundary also known as the area of interest.

Step 2: Consume Everything
Within my boundaries, I found that viewing movies, reading books, or listening to music on the topic is an excellent method to ingest as much information as possible and investigate my subject.

Step 3: Digest the Research
Digest my research by examining the materials, organizing them, arranging them into a narrative, attempting to put things together, creating a map, and most importantly, pushing myself.

Step 4: Drop It
Drop it. I decided to forget about it for a bit, distract my mind by doing other things.
